National Recognition Week for SAS Staff
Friday, August 29th, 2008
This week (August 25 - 29) was National Recognition Week for School Administrative & Support Staff, a chance for all schools to highlight the important roles played by their SAS staff and recognise their contributions. Last Wednesday the P&C held a special morning tea on behalf of the school community to thank Christine, Lorena, Melina, Connie, Joan, Jodie, Lesley and Ron, and to let them know how much the school community values their contribution to the education and support of our children. We do hope they enjoyed it!

The school has secured the loan of 13 large mounting boards for the 2008 Art Show, but we will need help getting them to the school (and returning them when the show is over). Please drop a note in the P&C Box, or let Karen or Louise know if you have a vehicle we could use! What: Transporting thirteen (13) 2m x 2m boards
The 2008 Father’s Day Raffle is up and running, with some wonderful (and unusual!) prizes to be won by our lucky Dads! Two ticket books have gone home with the eldest sibling in each family, and each book of tickets has FIVE x $2 tickets. Parents/carers are reminded that we recommend children sell only to friends, family and neighbours. The P&C do not recommend door-to-door selling unless an adult accompanies the children. We also ask that those parents with children under 8 years of age sell the tickets on behalf of their children.
***ATTENTION CANTEEN CUSTOMERS*** We have a shortage of volunteers and are currently unable to open the canteen on Tuesdays - please accept our apologies, but remember it will be business as usual on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We welcome anyone in the school community with a spare
Congratulations everyone on a hugely successful Cake Stall! Once again we had significant obstacles to test us - the weather was frightful, everyone was freezing and the pergola was regularly being anchored by human force to prevent it soaring off over Lilyfield - and on top of that there were considerably less in the way of market patrons to swoop on our yummy cakes… But we started the day with more cakes than anyone can remember, and they just kept coming for two hours! They all looked awesome, and we had sold everything by 12.30. So thanks to everyone who baked, sold and purchased their way to Saturday’s record breaking result of $677.50. If Cake Stalls were an Olympic event, Orange Grove would be unassailable!
Wests Tigers will play their last home game for 2008 tomorrow, Friday August 29th against the Cronulla Sharks, with Kick-off scheduled for 7.30pm. Orange Grove PS will as usual be parking cars in our school grounds, and as we will be parking in the dark, it will be critical that we have as many volunteers as possible. At the same time we will be holding our 125th Birthday Football Parking Sausage Sizzle, and will need extra people to help out there as well. Please add your name to the roster on the P&C Noticeboard in Block B,if you can help!Date: Friday 29th August
Great to see everyone on the bus again this week - what a lovely morning walk! The bus is still starting from the corner of Church & Mary streets for the next few weeks, so if you were going to join it between Charles St and the new first stop, walk up the hill to the Grocer’s on the corner of Mary St and we can pick you up there! We’ll see everyone next week for the regular fun trip to Orange Grove! And don’t forget, if you would like to try Driving or Conducting let one of the operators know!
