What does the Orange Grove P&C Secretary do?

November 7th, 2008

The Secretary of the Orange Grove P&C has a good visibility of what is happening in our school community - they are the principal administrativeofficer. Apart from taking notes at the monthly meetings and preparing the minutes, the Secretary consults with the President on the preparation

of meeting agendas and makes sure that the decisions of the meetings are carried out. At Orange Grove, we hold seven P&C meetings per

year, and in the absence of the Secretary, the Assistant Secretary can perform these duties. The Secretary also receives and tables

correspondence for the P&C. The roles of P&C office bearers are not onerous activities, and the Orange Grove Secretary contributes less than

half an hour of their personal time per week. In our P&C we communicate primarily by email, so computer access is essential, and makes

the job that much easier! We hope this information helps our community members when they are considering nominations for the positions of

Secretary and Assistant Secretary at our AGM in November.

P&C AGM and Monthly Meeting

The Orange Grove P&C Association AGM will be held at 7pm on Wednesday November the 19th for the election of the P&C Executive Committee for 2009. Everyone from the school community is welcome to take part in the AGM and the monthly meeting that will follow it at 7.30 pm - you do not have to be a financial member of the P&C to attend, so come along and be a part of your child’s school experience in a very positive, fun and productive way.Nominations for the election of a PRESIDENT, two VICE-PRESIDENTS, SECRETARY, ASSISTANT SECRETARY, TREASURER and ASSISTANT TREASURER can be made on the attached form and returned to the P&C box in the school office before the meeting date. What does the Orange Grove P&C Treasurer do?

October 30th, 2008

The Treasurer of the Orange Grove P&C has quite a responsible job! This includes receiving and depositing money coming in to the P&C (from the canteen, uniform shop and fundraising activities), drawing cheques and providing cash floats. This requires the Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer to be at the school once a week, usually on Friday, and to be able to access our Westpac Branch in Leichhardt as required. The Orange Grove P&C has a dedicated laptop with accounting software which the Treasurer uses to maintain financial records - these are presented at each of our seven monthly meetings.

The Treasurer prepares all of our financial records for auditing each year, and presents our final accounts to the Annual General Meeting in November. The Assistant Treasurer helps with these duties as required.

We hope this information helps our community members who are considering nominating for the positions of either Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer at our AGM in November.
